EID Preparedness Forum
Welcome!!
Background:The initial objective of the Forum (originally called the Pandemic Preparedness Forum or PPF) following its inception in 2006 was to strengthen the communication and coordination of organizations in the management of avian and human influenza across Asia. The Forum also set out to enable organizations to work towards the regional solidarity in order to tackle the universal threat of an influenza pandemic. As the forum grew in numbers and strength over the following years and as other zoonotic threats began to emerge globally, the Forum broadened its focus to Emerging Infectious Diseases and re-named itself Emerging infectious diseases forum or EID Forum.
EID Focus: The EID Preparedness Forum is a Southeast Asia inter-agency information-sharing forum focused on sharing knowledge, data and lessons learned on work carried out around the general topics of One Health and emerging infectious diseases, specifically those with a potential for tremendous impact to humans. Through monthly fora, the EID Forum aims to improve coordination and enhance knowledge sharing between organizations working to mitigate the threat of emerging pandemic threats in Southeast Asia.
Forum Hosts: The 2011 forum is co-hosted by the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) as well as the RESPOND and PREVENT projects - two projects under USAID’s global Emerging Pandemic Threats Program. The larger core group members also include the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
Forum Member: EID Preparedness Forum members are represented by a wide spectrum of national, regional and international governmental and non-governmental organizations, UN agencies, donors, academia and the private sector. Since its inception in 2006, Forum meetings have discussed a diverse range of themes within the remit of avian and animal influenza and now the larger lens of One Health and emerging infectious disease.
